Since a bit over a year I have embarked in yet another adventure as I started my own business in training & coaching women in politics. With only 28% of women in local politics in my country, something needs to be done to up those numbers! And I have made it my mission!
Now I have a big dream and I find it very scary to say it out loud … but I know that this crazy plan would be just the thing that can help me help more women get elected in office in the Netherlands …

Women & politics … History being made …
For the first time in history a women is running for President of the United States, and with some luck, she will even be sworn in on my B-day next year 😉.
In short: I would love to join the team of Hillary Clinton in November for 2 or 3 weeks to help her get elected and to learn more about fundraising and campaigning so I can share my knowledge and help women in the Netherlands that want to run for office.
But I have no idea where to start. I have the feeling it is mainly a matter of finding the right person that wants to help me in my mission. So please let me know if you have any contacts or suggestions that can help me!

ABOUT MY MISSION
Why women in politics?
Because I simply think we need to have a better balance in our democracies. Not only in numbers of women and men, but also in terms of balancing out masculine values like money, power and status with feminine values such as happiness, wellbeing and love. More women, but generally a more divers political landscape will help ‘the political system’ to bring out new ideas and different views. It is all about diversity (ask Canadian Prime Minster Trudeau or just drop Isabelle Hertner line as she can tell you all about it ;)).
What?
I run an online learning platform for women in politics in the Netherlands (www.mijndroominactie.nl). As far as I know it is the first online training program solely directed at women across political parties. In July the first ‘class’ graduated. I am so grateful to see what my students managed to achieve in terms of finding their voice, their issue, talking about it and making things happening with their fans, their constituencies (https://twitter.com/IreneGCJanssen/status/754774691110346752).
What’s next?
I am currently working on another online program focused on running a personal political campaign. I have some experiences campaigning in the EU through my job as campaign manager for former MEP Ria Oomen-Ruiten (in 2004). Also, I was lucky to be able to run myself in the last elections in 2014.
My dream: joining team Hillary
In Europe and in the Netherlands we do not have such extensive knowledge about crowdfunding and running a personal campaign for office. Now I would love to join team Hillary for 2 or 3 weeks in November to help her get elected and to learn more about campaigning and fundraising from her team. In that way I can share this knowledge with women in the Netherlands running for political office. And I can fulfill my mission of raising those number from 28% to 50%!
